Abstract: Characters with communication disorders are not common in the literature. Although their number has increased since 1960s, it is still limited. Nevertheless, some of the novels with a stutter character are published and translated globally. Due to those facts, the researcher makes an attempt to analyze shortly the history of disabilities, communication disorders and stuttering portray in the novels. The paper also examines how many novels with a stutterer character are translated from source language into Polish and it discusses the methods used to translate them.
