Цензура художественных переводов в Российской Империи XIX века

Abstract

В статье рассматривается вопрос применения цензурных практик в отношении художественных переводов в Российской Империи и Советском Союзе. Несмотря на идеологические различия, требования к отбору иностранной литературы и подходы к её переводу являлись схожими из-за принятия имперской структуры цензуры и принципов использования в, казалось бы, новом социальном порядке. В статье рассматриваются наиболее вопиющие случаи цензурных запретов переводимой литературы в России XIX века и проводятся параллели с подходами, практиковавшимися менее века спустя советскими цензорами.The article addresses the issue of continuity of censorial practices in respect of literary translations in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Despite the ideological differences, the requirements to the selection of works of foreign literature and approaches to their translation appear similar due to the adoption of the imperial censorship structure and principles for use in a seemingly new social order. The article dwells on the most flagrant cases of censorial bans of translated literature in the 19th century Russia and draws parallels with approaches practiced less than a century later by Soviet censors.
