Abstract: Abstract—In this paper we develop an algorithm for turbulence intensity estimation based on the spectral polarimetric approach to the remote sensing of rain. The algorithm is compared with traditional Doppler spectrum width estimation; advantages and disadvantages of the two are analyzed, and recommendations for further research and practical applications are made
