On the way to the digital revolution: the pros and cons of advanced digital technologies in the 21st century

Abstract

The author discusses the way advanced digital technologies have revolutionized the world we live in, stressing the most evident benefits they have brought for business and economics, logistics and communication, including such spheres as medicine, education, arts, etc. The article also highlights the downsides and growing concerns over problems related to the unethical and irresponsible use of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence, in particular. It is concluded that digital technology is just a tool, but whether it is beneficial or not depends on how consciously we apply it.Автор обговорює, як передові цифрові технології революціонізували світ, в якому ми живемо, наголошуючи на найбільш очевидних перевагах, які вони принесли для бізнесу та економіки, логістики та комунікації, включаючи такі сфери, як медицина, освіта, мистецтво тощо. У статті також висвітлюються недоліки та зростаюче занепокоєння проблемами, пов'язаними з неетичним і безвідповідальним використанням цифрових технологій і, зокрема, штучного інтелекту. Зроблено висновок, що цифрові технології - це лише інструмент, але чи є він корисним, чи ні, залежить від того, наскільки свідомо ми його застосовуємо.
