Общее понятие термина и основные его характеристики в теории перевода

Abstract

В статье раскрывается сущность понятия «термин». Рассмотрены особенности данного понятия. Даны некоторые определения термина, в которых заложены основные его свойства. Автор выделяет общие характеристики, содержащиеся во всех определениях понятия "термин". Термин имеет свою специфику, которая отличает его от общеупотребительных слов. Каждая область знаний имеет свою терминологию. Отмечается, что разнообразие и неоднозначность научно-технической терминологии требует от переводчика соответствующих знаний для перевода терминологии. Понимание специального текста зависит от правильного понимания терминов на иностранном языке.

The article reveals the essence of the concept “term”. The specifics of this concept are considered. Some definitions of the term, which lay down the basic properties of the concept “term”, are given. The author analyzes these concepts and identifies the common characteristics contained in all definitions. The term has its own specificity, which distinguishes it from common words. Each area of knowledge has its own terminology. It is noted that the diversity and ambiguity of scientific and technical terminology requires the translator to have the relevant knowledge, knowledge of the means of translating terminology. It is concluded that the meaning of terms in the practice of translation is significant, because understanding the whole text depends on a correct understanding of the foreign-language terms.
