Item Demetrius Rudolph Peacock and the Languages of Georgia(Аграр Медіа Груп, 2019-04) Zaal, Kikvidze; Levan, PachuliaThe paper is a discussion of D.R. Peacock‘s lexicographic resource ―Original Vocabularies of Five West Caucasian Languages‖ and provides information about the author and his work. Cultural information is preserved both in the denotational and connotational aspects of gluttonic semantics. This causes two types of problems in the process of translation. In every language, there are gluttonyms denoting things and phenomena peculiar to a given culture. This is the reason for the absence of equivalents. Lexemes without equivalents represent the first type of problem in the process of translation. Every nation has its peculiar artistic-associative mechanisms which change the initial meanings and yield secondary nominations. This causes the problem of the second type with regard to translation. Although the linguistic images vary between the representatives of different linguocultural communities, in the process of translation it is possible to find the units representing universal human vision.Item Актуальные проблемы обучения письменному переводу в вузе(Аграр Медіа Груп, 2019-04) Юзефович, НатальяThe paper aims at specifying the main issues of written translation which are too often neglected in professional education; the result of such neglect is lack of linguistic, intercultural, and pragmatic competence. The translation of artistic texts like any type of translation has its own peculiarities and is considered to be highly labour-intensive. These translations are distinguished by their novelty, originality and desire to modernize. One of the peculiarities of an artistic text is a great number of figures of speech and different expressive means in the source language, which should be rendered with all their stylistic peculiarities, sense and other nuances. The main aim of the translator of an artistic text will always be the maintenance of individuality and the adaptation of the material for the target culture.Item Влияние экстралингвистических факторов в процессе перекодирования мысли и передачи смыслов с одного языка на другой: некоторые теоретические и прикладные аспекты(2019-04) Гришаева, ЕленаThe phenomenon of the thought recording and conveying meanings has received increasing attention in recent years, but the consequences of extralinguistic factors impacting it have received much less research attention. Building on the theoretical approach to view interdependence between language and multi-dimensional societal implications as well as empirically obtained examples of the translational techniques aiming at attaining adequacy and equivalence in the process of translation, we draw attention to the attitudes of scholars towards basic features that are revealed with the help of culturally and cognitively induced factors. We argue that a translator analyses meanings from the interdisciplinary perspective: contrastive analysis of similarities and differences among people with different ethnic mentalities and consciousness leads to the reflection of their concept picture conveyed via means of the target language.Item Відтворення авторської концептосфери засобами мови перекладу (на прикладі перекладу концепту собор роману О. This is a relatively new discipline and should be different from teaching professional English at non-linguistic departments. The article looks into the notion of ―Professional English‖ and the history of its development, as well as into the history of teaching this subject in Western countries and in Ukraine. This helps to determine the objectives which must be set for teaching this discipline and the methodology behind it. The article gives tentative answers to the questions of what language material should be used, what styles and genres of Professional English should be focused on, and what professional linguistic skills should be formed in this respect. The article also dwells on the importance of terminological systems and analysis of professional texts for tuition purposes. The line is also drawn between this discipline and some other related disciplines, such as English for Academic Purposes and Terminology.
