Item Analysis of rocket fuels and problems of their application on the example of Ukraine(2020) Trofimov, Ihor; Boichenko, Sergii; Shamanskyi, Sergii; Трофімов, Ігор; Бойченко, Сергій; Шаманський, СергійThe object of research is the problems of rocket fuel application, the state of art and prospects. These problems are characteristic of almost the entire range of brands of modern rocket fuels suitable for application. These are problems with the basic physic-chemical and operational properties, technical requirements for the quality of rocket fuel, problems with the functioning of the refueling infrastructure, as well as ensuring the purity of rocket fuels. Given the ban on the use of highly toxic poisonous rocket fuels based on nitric acid, there is a problem of replacing them with less toxic. This problem is aggravated by the lack of production of their own petroleum-based hydrocarbon rocket fuels in many countries. In general, it leads to acute problems with the supplying spacecraft and rocket carriers with rocket fuels. In particular, such a problem arises in Ukraine with Ukrainian-made missiles. The constant attention to the problem of the aviation and rocket fuels quality results from many factors. The research has used a comprehensive approach to fuel quality assessment, analysis of world experience, synthesis of results and retrospectives, historical-evolutionary and logical approach. High level of fuels purity provides high reliability, safety of flights, increases technical resource of engine units. Therefore, expenses for achievement and maintenance of necessary level of purity of fuel and working liquids are quite justified. The result of the research is a classification of liquid rocket fuels based on their component composition and chemical structure. Requirements to energy, kinetic, operational characteristics, ecological and economic properties of liquid rocket fuels (LRF) are formulated. Given the unsatisfactory environmental conditions, the use of kerosene as a rocket fuel is more relevant compared to heptyl rocket fuel. Jet fuels T-1, T-6, T-8B are well suited for space technology of many countries, but very few countries can produce them. Purchasing in neighboring countries is not always possible for a number of reasons. Comparative analysis shows that liquid rocket fuel RP-1 in most respects is an analogue of jet fuel T-1 and T-6 and can be used as a substitute for rocket carriers. However, the problem of development of standards and regulations on quality control of LRF during their storage and operation is not solved. In particular, there is no clear regulation for the process of refueling LRF missiles at low temperatures. There are no regulations on the content of free and dissolved water and mechanical impurities in the LRF, unlike aviation fuels. One of the promising types of rocket fuels are hydrogen fuel cells. The results of the research can be applied in the field of spacecraft operation, as well as refueling infrastructure and cleanliness of rocket fuels. The research results can also be used by chemical experts, specialists in the field of operation of refueling and storage of LRF.Item Analysis of the environmental properties of the components of traditional and alternative aviation gasoline(National Aviation University, 2019) Boichenko, Sergii; Shkilniuk, Iryna; Pavliukh, Lesia; Babikova, Kateryna; Iakovlieva, Anna; Vinetskaya, RozaIn this article have been analyzed ecological properties of traditional and alternative aviation gasoline. Therefore, certification of bio-based materials that may end up as waste in fresh water, with respect to their biodegradation behavior, is necessary. Standard testing methods for measuring biodegradation in fresh water are described in OECD guidelines, ASTM standards, ISO standards, etc. The most widely used testing methods for evaluating biodegradation of chemicals in aerobic aqueous medium are OECD 301 and OECD 310 for ready, and OECD 302 for inherent biodegradability, respectively. Similarly, the International standards ISO 7827, ISO 9408, ISO 9439, ISO 10707, ISO 10708, and ISO 14593 determine the biodegradability of organic compounds in an aerobic aqueous environment and are equivalent to OECD 301 and OECD 310. Test methods comparable to OECD 302 (inherent biodegradability) were also developed at ISO level (ISO 9887, ISO 9888). The American Standards ASTM D 5271 (plastics) and ASTM D 5864, ASTM D 6139 and ASTM D 6731 (lubricants) address the biodegradability of final products which are soluble, poorly soluble, or insoluble in water. Despite the availability of various testing methods for determining biodegradability in fresh water, further research is necessary for identifying the key factors affecting the accuracy and reproducibility of the results. Moreover, the corresponding specifications to characterize the biodegradability of bio-based complex materials in fresh water need to be further investigatedItem Comparative characteristics of low-temperature properties of jet fuels modified with bio-additives(IOP Conf. Antiwear properties were estimated by the value of the scuffing load and the limiting load of scuffing applied to the friction pair working in a fuel medium. Biocomponents, mainly rapeseed oil FAME and rapeseed oil FAME modified via vacuum distillation were used during the study. It is found that lubricity of biocomponents is significantly higher comparing to conventional jet fuel. It is explained by the chemical composition of FAME: highly polarity of molecules stipulate their good adsorption at the surface of friction pair. High viscosity of biocomponents due to chemical structure positively influence on their lubricity. Adding biocomponents into jet fuel results in strengthening of boundary film and thus improves antiwear properties of fuel blends. It is determined that FAME modified via vacuum distillation possesses better lubricating ability comparing to standard FAME derived from rapeseed oil. Correlation between viscosity and lubricity of fuel is shown.Item Fundamentals of Chemmotology(National Aviation University, 2019) Boichenko, Sergii; Yakovlieva, Anna; Vovk, Oksana; Radomska, Margaryta; Cherniak, Larysa; Shkilniuk, IrynaThe manual presents a modern interpretation of Chemmotology science, its role in development of technology and society. It shows that development and promotion of alternative fuels and Chemmotology problems solving are impossible without systematic approach. In addition, having both theoretical part and practical application, Chemmotology science ensures energy and environmental security of the country's economy, rational use of traditional and alternative fuels and lubricants in operation of advanced modern equipment. The manual focuses on the fact that in recent years one of the most important issues has been the ecological constituent of Chemmotology science, which is aimed at ultra-minimization of negative impact of fuel lubricants and technical liquids on ecosystems. It is well-known that transport sector is an important component of the economy that have an impact on the development and prosperity of the population. Efficiency, reliability of operation of transport, rational use of operating materials depends on their correct selection. According to its quality performance materials must conform to both the model and operating conditions of transport means. The use of poor quality fuels and lubricants leads to a decrease in the durability and reliability of machinery and machine parts; the use of materials of higher quality than required causes unreasonable increase in costs. Thus, knowledge of the range of fuels and lubricants, its functional purpose, operational properties allow using them correctly and efficiently. The authors tried to integrate and systematize in the presented manual the knowledge of many experts from different countries to characterize main trends in the development of conventional and alternative fuels and lubricants, its modern assortment and tendencies in development.Item Identification and assessment of biological risk of aviation fuel supply(National Aviation University, 2019) Shkilniuk, Iryna; Boichenko, Sergii; Kondratiuk, Tetiana; Shevchuk, NataliiaThe work is focused on microbial contamination of refined petroleum products and fuel systems of vehicles and means of operation and storage.
