An Archivist and a Records Manager: Professional Education in Ukraine (Case study of the National Aviation University).

Abstract

Інформаційна доба з її цифровими трансформаціями принесла кардинальні зміни в усі сфери суспільного життя. Перебудова суспільства чи не найперше позначилась на закладах освіти загалом та вищої зокрема. Зміни торкнулися і професії архівіста. Зростання в Україні кількості закладів вищої освіти, що здійснюють підготовку фахівців за спеціальністю 029 «Інформаційна, бібліотечна та архівна справа» пояснюється актуальною потребою підготовки фахівців в галузі керування документаційними процесами як в органах держаної влади, місцевого самоуправління, в системі архівних установ України. Проведений авторам порівняльний аналіз діяльності провідних закладів вищої освіти в Україні з підготовки фахівців за зазначеною спеціальністю показав варіативність освітньо-професійних програм, розроблених в її межах. Вивчення досвіду різних країн і порівняння його з традиціями та тенденціями розвитку спеціальності в Україні, обумовили розробку кафедрою історії та документознавства Національного авіаційного університету моделі підготовки фахівця зі спеціальності «Інформаційна, бібліотечна та архівна справа», яка базується на формуванні міждисциплінарних компетентностей, що дозволяє випускникам бути конкурентоспроможними на ринку праці за різними видами діяльності, у тому числі й в архівній справі.

Higher education reform in Ukraine and the emergence of the new integrated specialty “Information, Library and Archival Studies” instead of “Records Management and Information Activity” in the educational space in particular, brought about various interpretations and sharp discussions. In general, the university community received these innovations without enthusiasm. The scientific thought of Ukrainian scholars on how to develop archival education in Ukraine was generally based on the tradition enshrined in the complex of developed academic disciplines and tested in practice in conditions of intense competition for a student. The approach of the Department of History and Records Management of the National Aviation University to modern training of the archivist was prompted by the needs of the labor market and the challenges of the digital society. It consists in finding ways to train modern specialists who possess interdisciplinary competences in the field of archival studies, records management, information activity and socio-communicative sciences. This led to a study aimed at finding an up-to-date profile of a records manager/archivist. The research analyzes the approaches to the education of archivists in Ukraine at various stages of its socio-economic development, summarizes the current experience of the National Aviation University in this sphere.
